Her most recent publications have examined cinematic and televisual legacies in Samuel Beckett’s writing, with a focus on his late prose. Her work has appeared in academic journals and essay collections, including in Samuel Beckett Today/Aujourd’hui, the Journal of Beckett Studies, Beckett and Modernism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018), and Samuel Beckett and Technology (Edinburgh UP, 2021), which she also co-edited with Einat Adar and Mark Nixon. Her current research focuses on Beckett’s collaborations, in particular with the German television broadcaster Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR/SWR).

Since 1995, Floriánová has specialized in teaching Czech to foreigners for the Calix Language School and privately for international companies like Air,�� Honda, Vodafone, and Webnode.

Additionally, she has been teaching Czech at NYU in Prague since 1999, and since 2014, at Charles University’s Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies, along with work for CIEE and the University Studies Abroad Consortium on their study abroad programs for Americans.

He holds a Ph.D. in Humanities, specializing in History and Heritage: Islamic Studies, from the University of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Morocco, as well as an M.A. and a B.A. in the Foundations of Islamic Jurisprudence and a Baccalaureate in Literature and Foreign Languages, with a focus on French and English. His academic education has been complemented by traditional studies at madrasas in Algeria and Morocco, including at the historic Al-Qarawiyyin University in Fez. He has also taught dozens of classical texts in Arabic and Islamic literature, poetry, theology, and history. His academic formation includes visits to institutions in Turkey, Mauritania, and Tunisia, and he holds several Ijāzāt, or teaching licenses with authenticated chains of transmission, in classical Islamic texts.

At Anglo-American University, he teaches Composition 101 and 102 and contributes to academic events and activities related to history and philosophy.

Badr has presented his research at the University of Exeter, the University of Toronto, the University of Sarajevo, Université de Limoges in France, Charles University in Prague, including the Protestant Theological Faculty, the Czech Academy of Sciences, Al-Azhar University, the European Academy of Religion, and other academic institutions and international forums. He has also presented at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair in the United Arab Emirates, the African Peace Conference in Nouakchott, Mauritania, and cultural and artistic events, including the Animator Film Festival in Poland, the Manchester Immigration Exhibition, and the ICICH/ICOMOS Symposium in Italy.

His research focuses on Islamic intellectual history, Islamic jurisprudence and legal thought, traditional Islamic education and madrasa pedagogy, the preservation and resilience of material and intangible cultures, religious groups, radicalism and ideological polarization, and Sufi and Andalusian cultural and artistic traditions. His work connects classical Islamic scholarship and textual traditions with contemporary questions of education, pluralism, freedom, and religious thought.

Alongside his academic work, he has presented on Andalusian and Sufi music and performed in Arabic, Berber, French, Turkish, and Hebrew at international concerts and workshops. He has written and hosted television and web programs and documentaries and has contributed to cultural and artistic projects. In his free time, he enjoys playing classical instruments, editing medieval manuscripts, and watching Depuis Quand and J’irai Dormir Chez Vous!.

Adar’s work has been published in the essay collections Gallows Humour (2020) and Translating Samuel Beckett around the World (2021), as well as the journals Partial Answers and Estudios Irlandeses. She is also the co-editor, together with Galina Kiryushina and Mark Nixon, of Samuel Beckett and Technology (2021).

Adar holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature and Philosophy and an M.A. in English Literature and American Studies from Tel Aviv University. Her research interests include Samuel Beckett, Flann O’Brien, Irish modernism, and philosophy.

For over twenty years Joanna has worked as a researcher, a teacher and an administrator. At AAU she is responsible for administering the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, which includes preparing regulations and documents issued by the Vice President, cooperation with other departments and administering the accreditation agenda.

Joanna divides her spare time between her family and small academic projects on medieval history.
